Close watch of the mouth and face

by Ibinabo Festus-Briggs
(Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria)

The best way for a child to understand phonics is asking the child to come close to your face and watch your mouth move when making sounds. This will also enable the child see the facial expression when sounds are made for easy understanding.

It is when the child understands how the tongue moves that he or she will be able to practice with Mirror. This is what I feel will help in the teaching of phonics.
